Summer School A Huge Success

The recent TYIS summer school program was a huge success! This year's summer program was divided into three terms:

June 17-21

Teacher: Mr. James Lara

Theme: Reader's Theatre

Students had a great time writing a story together, creating shadow puppets, and giving a wonderful performance for the parents. We could tell that they practiced a lot and it was amazing to hear the students speak so much English.

June 24-28

Teacher: Mr. James Lara

Theme: Public Speaking

Students gained the confidence to speak in front of others and develop their own ideas. We know that these skills will continue to serve them well this next year.

July 1-5

Teacher: Mr. David Christian

Theme: Myths, Legends, Folktales and Fairytales

Students learned about the literary elements of different genres. By the end of the week students were able to listen to a story and categorize it into the correct genre. Students are also now familiar with many famous stories from around the world, including King Arthur, Theseus and the Minotaur, Aladdin, Aesop's Fables, The Emperor's New Clothes, and many others tales.
