Saturday School

Tokyo YMCA International School Saturday School provides a one-day-a-week international school program for students who are seeking enjoyable and academically rigorous learning experiences in an immersive English-language environment.

This program makes use of TYIS's qualified international teaching team, spacious school facilities, and robust technology resources to support your child's learning journey. Our curriculum makes use of diverse academic activities, from theme studies in science, arts, and robotics, hands-on activities, computer-based adaptive learning, to classroom study utilizing our National Geographic textbooks and engaging multimedia resources.

In all activities, English is maintained as the primary means of communication, whether in study or play. Students gain experience and fluency using both social and academic English in a full immersion environment. All the while, students are guided and supported by our teaching staff to ensure that they have a safe, engaging learning environment where they can learn and grow.

TYIS Saturday School is a great opportunity to maintain and further improve upon English proficiency cultivated in overseas or international settings, or to provide the additional challenge and authentic English immersion for students with a foundation in English to take their skills to the next level.

Through the TYIS Saturday School program, your child will not only develop greater English literacy skills but also the confidence to put their skills to real use wherever their future takes them!

Please feel free to contact us to learn more about the TYIS Saturday School, or apply here for a trial class where your child can experience our program first-hand.

Events
(example for the 2023 academic year)

The TYIS Saturday School offers a number of fun and engaging seasonal events throughout the year. We offer theme study weeks throughout the school year to utilize our English skills in different disciplines, through special projects in arts and sciences.

We learn about global issues and take part in a community clean-up "Clean Walk" in our pursuit of contributing towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We have a yearly field trip excursion that we take part in as a group, which allows us to connect our English to an exciting experience in the community - in May 2024, we enjoyed visiting a science museum together!

Culture day is another fun activity for students, as we share food, cultural customs, sport, and games from different countries represented in our school community with each other.

We enjoy holiday celebrations at Halloween and Christmas time. Students have a great time each year participating in these festive activities with their friends!
