The new school year was kicked off on August 23^rd and we are glad to have students back to school.


This year TYIS will be introducing some new programs into the classroom curriculum. The English Enrichment Program (EEP), Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be using a new handwriting curriculum, which is a new program geared for young students. Its focus is to introduce learners to writing the letters of the English alphabet correctly and neatly.

In addition, EEP and Kindergarten will be focusing more heavily on phonics in the classroom. We are introducing a new phonics program to better help our young learners with their command of the English language and its proper pronunciation.

Lastly, we have a new school-wide Reading and Writing Workshop design that is being introduced at all grade levels. In this workshop format, teachers and students work together to explore the types of different books and the many different styles of writing. Through this process, students also learn about the basic structures of appropriate grammar and overall, how to be stronger, more confident readers and writers.

We are very excited to bring these new curricular programs to our school and will continue to offer the children at TYIS the best education possible.
