TYIS Core Essential Values

TYIS is committed to teaching values education throughout the year to all students.Values are the essential principles that guide our behavior, decision-making and interactions with others. Our 4-Core Values are:

□ Caring- To be kind and show concern for others.
□ Honesty- To be truthful with yourself and other people.
□ Respect- To treat other people as you would have them treat you.
□ Responsibility- To do the right thing and be accountable for your actions.

In addition to this, TYIS observes a monthly values program that focuses on one separate and specific value, school-wide, for a month at a time.
This enables students across grade levels and throughout the school to learn and apply the monthly value at the same time.Students are taught and encouraged to model the values consistently. Weekly blocks of time are scheduled at every grade level in order to develop an understanding of how to effectively apply the concept of each value that is introduced.
