On Sunday, September 13, we visited Fuchu City Local History Park as part of "Mix!", a day-out program designed for children with international backgrounds living in Japan.
Upon arrival, the children first reviewed safety guidelines and manners for water play--referred to as the "Water Play Rules"--together with our volunteer leaders before entering the splash pond. They participated in engaging activities such as a target-toss game with balls and a race to see whose ball could float downstream the fastest. Both children and volunteer leaders actively moved around, enjoying the games and deepening their connections.
After enjoying the water play, the group moved to the park's planetarium to watch a star show. Relaxing in the cool, comfortable indoor setting provided a great opportunity to unwind and recharge.
Finally, we visited the former Fuchu Town Hall, a historic Western-style building located within the park grounds. This visit offered everyone a valuable chance to learn about and deepen their understanding of Fuchu City's history and local culture.
By combining active outdoor play, a relaxing planetarium session, and historical learning, the program proved to be a highly fulfilling day for all participants.
Our next program is December 20th.

Tabunka Kyosei Space▽ provides a "place", "education" and "opportunity" for children with international backgrounds in order to realize a society where all children and youth living in japan can live "happily", "peacefully" and "authentically".
"MIKKUSU!"is a one day outing program for children with international backgrounds. The program was started in response to a request from a student volunteer who said, "I wish there was such an activity.
Children with international backgrounds are often limited in their opportunities for experiences due to "language," 'institutional' and "economic" challenges. In this program, they actually buy their own tickets, ride public transportation, go out, meet new friends, and learn Japanese through fun and experiences that are different from their daily lives.
Please spread "MIKKUSU!" to the children with international backgrounds around you who live in Japan.
